Nespresso is a brand as old as 39 years. Introduced for the first time in 1976’s Switzerland, it was later taken as Nestle subsidiary company. Nespresso machines are fancied by coffee enthusiasts because of their ability to, of course, brew espresso, and make full-size coffee from coffee capsules – a one-time use container containing ground coffee with flavorings. Nespresso machines have been continuously trending. However, there are two lines of products that the Nespresso comes with: VertuoLine and Original Line. What makes them different from each other?
VertuoLine was released in 2014, and since then all the first-generation machines are classified as Original Line. The VertuoLine is specifically designed to be packed with more diverse serving options so that consumers who prefer larger servings of coffee would find it neat. The VertuoLine, just like the Original Line, is made to deliver coffee-drinking convenience for busy people. Regarding the brewing process, Original Line works pretty much similar to a conventional espresso maker but without the measuring and tamping process. Original Line machines add hot water and pressure to already finely ground coffee to produce espresso. Meanwhile, the VertuoLine uses centrifugal force isntead of pressure, which has a side-effect of lowering the water temperature pretty significantly. And, we know that low temperature and low pressure cause bad extraction. Therefore, the espresso from VertuoLine is generally tasted weaker, underextracted, and somehow tepid.

The number one important factor to think about when choosing the right espresso maker to purchase is, obviously, the taste of the shot it delivers. Ergo, choosing between the two lines of Nespresso machines, the VertuoLine and the Original Line, you probably would love to stick with the older Original Line. Old but gold.
