You will gradually understand about the different types of coffee as you read and taste each of them. In the following article, we are going to discuss about Cappuccino and Americano, two coffee drinks that are very popular especially in the United States.

Cappuccino is a coffee drink that features three main ingredients, which consist of espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam. The three main components are used in an equal ratio of 1:1:1. Usually, double espresso is used; thus, the amount of the other components adjust accordingly. The espresso is combined with the steamed milk, creating a sweet and creamy coffee drink. The flavor of the milk is pretty apparent, yet the coffee is still featured well. The milk foam then layers the top surface, creating a thick and airy microfoam topping. Because of the stiff top layer, Cappuccino often becomes the object of coffee arts, too. Cappuccino received its name from the Capuchin friars due to the color resembling their robe’s color.

On the other hand, Americano is basically an espresso but with more water. It is made for those people who want to have the taste of espresso but can’t stand the extreme, intense strength. Americano is made like an espresso, but with more water running through the ground coffee to weaken the flavor and creates the desired quantity. Furthermore, some places may simply add hot water to a serving of espresso to make Americano, and this is fine without changing the basic concept. So, Americano is simply an espresso that has been drawn out with extra water. The result is coffee with the rich taste of espresso but at a fraction of the strength. Keep in mind, however, that Americano is different to the standard brewed coffee which is usually filtered.
