Breville Infuser Vs Duo Temp Pro

Breville’s coffee makers have been widely considered as some of the best choices available on the market. Coming with decent build quality and great modern features, there is no reason not to fall in love with a Breville model. In the following article, we are going to take a look at two Breville models available in a similar price range: Breville Infuser vs Duo Temp Pro. Breville Duo Temp Pro is a lower model that is a little bit more affordable, but the price gap to Breville Infuser is quite scalable. So, what are the differences between Breville Infuser and Breville Duo Temp Pro?

Breville Infuser Vs Duo Temp Pro

Both Breville Infuser and Breville Duo Temp Pro are semi-automatic coffee machines. Unlike many other traditional semi-autos, these two models keep just enough features hands-on and only program the ones that you don’t really have to control manually. Such design makes a nice balance.

At first, Infuser and Duo Temp Pro may appear similar. But Duo Temp Pro is quite bigger and taller, so it will require more space in your kitchen. The larger size is partially because Duo Temp Pro is equipped with a slightly larger water tank that has a capacity of 64 oz. Infuser’s water tank capacity is 61 oz.

Infuser and Duo Temp Pro are great for anyone who wants to hone their coffee brewing skills. Both models are equipped with pressurized and non-pressurized portafilter baskets. If you have just started learning, don’t worry; the pressurized portafilter can help you extract the espresso when it is at the right pressure.

On the front side, you can find Breville Infuser’s iconic pressure gauge. There is also a dedicated hot water spout. Duo Temp Pro does not have such pressure gauge; instead, it has a control knob on the place. It uses a button to switch between steam and hot water, but it does not have a dedicated water spout. It produces hot water through the steam wand in a slow, steady stream. (See another discussion between Gaggia Classic Vs Breville Infuser)

The real differences between Breville Infuser vs Duo Temp Pro come up from the programmability aspect. Well, both models are equipped with PID temperature controllers, but you can’t adjust Duo Temp Pro’s temperature. On the other hand, Infuser allows you to adjust the temperature to improve the temperature stability.

Furthermore, Breville Infuser comes with a programmable single/double shot button, which is awesome for maintaining consistency as long as you use the same grind. However, if you switch beans or grind, you will need to dial in the espresso shot time again.

Breville Duo Temp Pro offers knob controls that can be adjusted on-the-fly quickly and conveniently. This is actually more convenient if you often use different kinds of beans or grinds. Also, the manual controls can teach beginners about extraction time.

In general, Breville Infuser makes the best way to go. The programmability is a great feature. You can adjust the temperature and set the single/double shot button to maintain consistency. The dedicated water spout is also very nice, allowing you to get hot water more quickly. However, if you prefer knobs for on-the-fly control, Breville Duo Temp Pro makes a nice alternative.
